About your elopement in Granada

The elopement location

Granada is the capital city in Andalusia, south of Spain, located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is famous for its ancient Moorish architecture - in particular Albaicin - a neighbourhood of whitewashed houses, mazes of narrow streets and alleys and hidden inner gardens and courtyards.

To the north, is the neighbourhood of Sacromonte Hill. Famous for its cave dwellings, gypsy communities and Flamenco musicians.  and dancers have grown up in this passionate and earthly neighbourhood. There is an earthiness and simplistic passion to Granada. Wander the streets, take in the scents and absorb the beauty of the monuments and buildings that provide its rich history and culture.

In Granada, you’ll find several spots that are perfect for your intimate elopement ceremony. We will recommend the one that best suits the needs and preferences of your elopement day - based on the season, weather conditions and time of day. The photoshoot will usually take place within the historical centre and inside of the Alhambra.

It’s important to note that if you’re getting married on public land, there won't be permits to apply and pay for. However, if you choose a private location, there will be a rental fee to be paid which is not included in our package, and you need to book in advance to access the Alhambra.

Season and climate

Granada is 680 metres above sea level, a tucked within the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, so it’s climate is slightly cooler than the rest of southern Spain. Expect snowy winters and dry hot summers.

The best season to elope in Granada begins in March and last through to November. Bare in mind, that if you are sensitive to heat, then it’s best to avoid July and August to celebrate your elopement in Granada.

Schedule of the day

We will send you the schedule of your day around four weeks before your elopement or intimate wedding in Granada.

Every couple's elopement timeline is different, depending on the location, season and time of the day but generally speaking, the ceremony is usually around 20 minute long and we will have to factor in the duration of the photoshoot. The whole experience usually lasts a total of 4 hours but we recommend keeping the whole day available in case plans unexpectedly change.

The best outdoor lighting happens in the two hours around sunrise and sunset, so we usually recommend that the elopement ceremony is held close to then.

How to get there and around

Getting around in Granada is beautifully simple, with easy air, rail and bus links. Flights from major European airports and Spanish cities land in Granada every day.

And once you have arrived, it’s easiest to get around the historical centre by foot.
