With its temperate continental climate, Slovenia experiences four distinct seasons, each painting the landscape with its own unique hues and moods. Spring awakens the countryside with a burst of color as wildflowers bloom and vineyards come to life, making it an ideal time for romantic strolls hand in hand through the picturesque countryside. Temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) during spring.

Summer brings warmth and sunshine, bathing the land in golden light and inviting couples to bask in the glow of long, sun-drenched days. It's the perfect season for outdoor ceremonies amidst lush greenery, followed by alfresco celebrations under the stars. Temperatures soar to an average of 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F) during summer. Although every couple's elopement timeline is different (depending on the location, season, and time of the day), generally speaking, the wedding ceremony is usually around 20 minutes long and you can expect photography before, mid, and after the ceremony. The whole experience usually lasts a minimum of four hours but we recommend keeping the whole day available in case plans unexpectedly change (due to unpredictable weather conditions etc.).

The best outdoor lighting tends to be around sunrise and sunset, so we usually recommend that the elopement ceremony is held close to that time.

Renting a car is probably the best way to see Slovenia as it provides the flexibility to explore Slovenia at your own pace, particularly if you plan to visit rural or less accessible destinations. Major car rental companies operate at airports and in city centers, and Slovenia boasts well-maintained roads that make driving relatively straightforward.

Slovenia also offers an extensive public transportation system with buses, trains, and trams. In Ljubljana, the capital city, you can rely on a comprehensive bus network, while trains connect major cities and towns across the country. Regional buses are also available for reaching more remote areas, and tickets can be purchased at stations, online, or directly on board.

Taxis are readily available in urban areas and can be hailed on the street or booked in advance.

If you’re really down for an adventure, consider cycling! Slovenia is one of the most cyclist-friendly countries in Europe with numerous cycling routes and bike-friendly infrastructure. Renting a bike or bringing your own allows you to explore the picturesque landscapes and charming towns at a leisurely pace.
