Cole Meets Ashley

Ashley was briefly home in Ellensburg before returning to Zaragoza, Spain for her second stint as an Au-Pair. Cole was in his first year at Central Washington University. On a cold day in March 2015, Cole arrived early for a meeting at the infamous D&M Coffee downtown. Cole sat down at a table and Ashley, seated a couple of seats away, leaned over and said he looked familiar. They chatted for just a few minutes, but Cole was crazy about the woman he had just met. For the next week, the two would get to know each other from the spark they shared. Cole began to drink coffee for the first time in his life as D&M Coffee was where Ashley spent most of her waking hours. They tried to find any reason to spend time together before Ashley left. Then, for the next three months, Ashley and Cole would do their best to get to know each other from across the world. Both would try to wake up early or stay up late, so their messages wouldn’t go unanswered for nine hours. Ashley returned home in the summer and the two wasted no time before becoming an official couple in July 2015.

The Marriage Proposal

Cole knew from the moment they met that Ashley was the woman of his dreams. When the timing was right, Cole prepared the perfect plan to propose; in the spot they met exactly 7 years to the day later. With the help of only a handful of friends and family, Cole surprised Ashley with the engagement. On March 4th, 2022, Cole parked in front of the old D&M Coffee in downtown Ellensburg. Ashley was confused, thinking she was dropping him off at the college for a presentation. Cole created a weekend full of fake events so Ashley would be prepared for their celebratory weekend. The two got out of the car and entered the building. Unfortunately, D&M Coffee had moved away years before, but Cole had contacted the new owners to use the space to ask the most important question of his life. The moment had not hit Ashley until Cole grabbed her hands and began to speak. Cole had planned for one of her best friends and a photographer to be hiding around the corner to capture the moment. Tears began to flow off of Ashley’s face as Cole got down on one knee. After she said, “Yes!” Ashley couldn’t wait any longer and yelled out, “Put it on me!". They both celebrated with their friends with bottles of champagne that Cole had ready!

The Elopement Day

Ashley and Cole both love Spain and wished to elope in a dynamic city that reflects their crazy love story. With a bit of guidance from our expert wedding planners, it didn’t take long for them to settle on Barcelona. They decided to have their wedding in the early morning when the city was still quiet. With our wedding elopements commonly organized mid-week, the couple could enjoy privacy even at the more popular touristy spots.

The couple enjoyed their first look and walked into the old city center in their elegant wedding attire. After having their pictures taken in Park Ciutadella, we took the couple to Labyrinth Park, a lovely and quiet place full of romance where they met their celebrant. Cyntia, having years of experience in executing mindful wedding elopements, had a moment with the couple to breathe, settle their nerves, and prepare themselves mentally for the ceremony, making the couple’s experience pleasant and peaceful. After their “I dos” the couple had their very first kiss as a married couple and celebrated by popping champagne, courtesy of Somewhere Crazy.
