Frequently Asked Questions

The Dolomite Mountains are located in northeast Italy, a skyline of impressive limestone mountains. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 2009, the Dolomites are absolutely spectacular, and it’s easy to see why they make for an incredible elopement destination.
The region is known for outdoor pursuits like skiing, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and more. But they’re also filled with eight tranquil natural parks and one national park, offering seclusion in deep nature. At Somewhere Crazy we offer elopements in stunning natural locations such as Seceda, Giau Pass, Cadini di Misurina, Conque Torri, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Braies Lake, Carezza Lake, and others! Inquire and book a call to receive a full guide to these locations.
Eloping in the Dolomites is a great idea for adventurous souls who love intact nature spots. Imagine getting married on a mountaintop or saying your vows in a beautiful valley. As our elopements consist of at least two spots for your wedding photoshoot, you can capture it all: small hills, rolling valleys, soothing rivers, and impressive mountaintops.

Find the Dolomites cool in summer and magically snowy in winter—any time of year is the perfect time for your elopement! In the summer months (July–September), you’ll find warm temperatures perfect for hiking and climbing via Ferrata and cycling trips—never too hot, with plenty of shade in the lush green woods.
In autumn, the temperature drops slightly but is still pleasant enough to do what you would enjoy in the summer, making it perfect for a late-summer getaway. By winter, you’ll find the Dolomites layered with snow. This is usually from December right through to March, and sometimes even April. Despite that, the sun still shines here 8 days out of 10—more than any mountain range in the Alps! That makes it a true winter paradise for winter sports like skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding.
Spring fills the Dolomites with warmer air, longer days, and sometimes a little rain. But these waters are welcomed for clearing the air and making the landscape lush and green, filled with wildflowers ready for summer.

Every couple's elopement timeline is different, depending on the location, season, and time of the day but generally speaking, the ceremony is usually around 20-30 minutes long. The Dolomites elopement experience usually lasts a total of 4 hours but we recommend keeping the whole day available in case plans unexpectedly change.
The best outdoor lighting happens in the two hours around sunrise and sunset, so we usually recommend that the elopement ceremony is held close to then.

The easiest way to get to the Dolomites is to fly to a nearby city like Milan, Venice, Zurich or Munich. From there it’s a short car journey to the mountains.
