This engagement photo session is a gorgeous example of what an Icelandic elopement could look like. In May 2019, Sara and Sjonni met with their photographer Michalina at 7 pm at Skogafoss, which gave them the best light and lots of privacy!
Skogafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the south of Iceland and it is a very powerful and beautiful sight. On sunny days it creates hundreds of rainbows through the waterfalls and water sprays, and on moodier days it is a very dramatic scene. The top of Eyjafjallajökull Glacier can also be seen from here, which had its biggest eruption in 2010.
No matter the weather or the light, this location guarantees an incredible experience, but Sara and Sjonni were lucky to have the perfect conditions on the day of their photoshoot. Together they walked through the rough, green landscape to the pebbled edge of the lake where the waterfall came down. They cuddled up to each other and were relaxed and smiling throughout the entire shoot, enjoying these intimate moments in the breathtaking location. Sara’s off-white, soft, flowing dress and Sjonni’s dark suit were eye-catching against the backdrops and created dramatic, romantic, and beautiful photos.
