Why Were Elopements so Popular the Coronavirus Era
We’ve always had a huge love for elopements - surprise, surprise! - but, given the current situation that the world is in now with Covid-19 causing cancellations and postponements to all big wedding plans, elopements are finally getting the much needed attention they’ve always deserved.
That’s not to say we’re not devastated about all of the big plans being cancelled, we really, really are, but we are so pleased that couples are realising that they have another alternative option.
So, WHY are elopements such a great idea, NOW more than ever?
They are safe
With only a few people involved - the couple, the celebrant, a photographer and sometimes a videographer, it’s easy for everyone to socially distance themselves.
2. They are allowed!
Although there are plenty of restrictions on events and weddings (such as a maximum number of people in attendance, no dance floors, masks at all times unless eating or drinking, among others), elopements are in a league of their own as it’s simply a very small group of people, typically taking place in wide open spaces.
3. They are much less expensive
Elopements typically cost between a few hundred and a few thousand euros, depending on what you would like the day to involve, saving you a LOT of money.
4. They are flexible
If your travel plans need to be rearranged or restrictions mean it can't go ahead on the date or in the location you had planned, it’s easy to communicate with your suppliers to rearrange to another date or location that works for everyone.
5. They are personal
Elopements are completely unique to you, they can take place whenever, wherever and however you want, and with a bespoke ceremony written especially for you.
6. They are an awesome reason to travel (whether it’s close or far)
Travelling is a difficult thing to do at the moment, but planning your elopement gives you an exciting reason to plan a trip.
