Same-sex Elopement on a Sailboat in Barcelona

Richard and Daniel traveled to Barcelona from Florida in September 2019 for their dream elopement. They met up with their wedding planning Valentina (the CEO & founder of Somewhere Crazy) two days before their ceremony, they met for tapas and arranged the final details while toasting their arrival in the beautiful city and the event they’d been planning together for the past months. They chose Barcelona for its weather and architecture, and because it is such an LGBT-friendly city.
On the day of the elopement, Daniel and Richard walked the old streets of the city, through the Gothic Quarter and historical center of Barcelona, stopping in Parc de la Ciutadella for photos. They made their way on foot to the mariner, where they met their Celebrant and boarded a sailboat together, ready for their sunset cruise and ceremony onboard.
Richard and Daniel knew that they wanted to have their ceremony on a boat as they wanted their ceremony to be completely private and intimate, but being able to experience and have photos on the day around a large part of the city made it even better.
Once onboard, they opened a bottle of champagne as they sailed out to the sunset spot, before heading up to the deck for their ceremony. Daniel and Richard wrote personal vows to each other, and after reading them aloud to each other, were announced as newlyweds and kissed as the sun was beginning to set. A wedding cake was brought up for them and they celebrated together on board as they sailed back towards the city at dusk.
After their romantic elopement in Barcelona, the couple headed off on a cruise for their honeymoon, and on their return home to Florida, they threw a wedding party with their family and friends where they played their wedding video and showed the photos to everyone.
Their wedding video won the Junebug Wedding prize “Best Video 2019”.
